Shane Barnard

God saved me by His sovereign grace in the ninth grade. He holds me up with it today, and by it He will fully be revealed in the day to come! I have nothing else to grab on to. It is the grace of God manifested through Jesus Christ crucified that has ruined me and has interrupted my life. I didn’t see it coming. I was a “good” moral kid in a “good” moral family... Too much “good” to know God, maybe. I hadn’t ever known a believer or the Gospel before the ninth grade when I started attending a Bible church youth group, so I was cut and left bare by this irresistible fellowship. I hadn’t ever really given music a thought before the Lord commanded it of me my junior year at Texas A&M University where I was a speech and communications major. Overnight, the music that I didn’t even know that was in me became the way He created for me to proclaim His greatness. I began leading worship which led to a recording career. I met Shane in 1997, and in December 2001 we signed to Inpop Records. Whatever, Lord, You do it! And He has; I have had absolutely no part in the way He has gifted me. And praise Him, lest I should boast in myself. To the praise of the glory of His grace!

Worst trouble you got into as a child: I perched up on the side of the road and threw a water ballon at an old lady’s car. I had to CLEAN up my whole TOWN!!!

Shane Everett

I call Dallas, Texas my home and it’s there where I was born and raised. I attended and eventually graduated from Texas A&M University in 2001 (I was class of 1997 ouch!). I love golf and play every chance I get. I am a proud father of Olive Lynn Everett, born January of 2007 and love my wife, Kellie, with all of my heart. I met my good buddy, Shane Barnard, at A&M in 1997 when he borrowed a guitar from me for his first gig.

I was a business major and music, as a career choice, had never even crossed my mind. I loved business, finance, and corporate America. I could not wait to make my mark or at least go down trying. I have my plans and the Lord has his. By the way he always wins. The Lord saved me in April of 1997 -- and talk about 180’s, I had one. About one month after this experience I had my first gig leading worship. Side note: This first gig was for David Crowder’s college group in Waco, Texas. I have no idea why he still returns my calls. As choppy and unrehearsed as this experience was, here I am almost ten years later doing the same thing.

Worst trouble you got into as a child: Going to jail at 15 for grand theft auto. By the way it was a friend’s car and his father was making a point and dropped the charges, but it was terrifying.

Career Highlight: We have been working on our studio for a couple of years. We just finished our new record in that studio. It’s a really great feeling.

Career Embarrassment: Being asked from the stage where we were and not knowing.

Most influential person in your career: Shane Barnard. It’s hard not to be influenced when you spend 10 years with someone who loves God and is one of the best musicians I have ever met.
